AITRICS Reports 25% Decrease in Code Blue Incidents Following Hospital Implementation of AITRICS-VC (VitalCare)

Reduced Code Blue Incidents, Lower Long-Term Hospitalization Rates, and Increased Early Clinical Intervention After the Adoption of VitalCare

 

 

 


 

 

AITRICS (CEO Kwang Joon Kim), a company specializing in artificial intelligence(AI) technology announced on the 27th that its patient deterioration prediction AI solution AITRICS-VC (VitalCare) reduced in-hospital Code Blue events by about 25%, according to a recently published clinical study. The study was published in the authoritative international journal JMIR Medical Informatics in the field of medical informatics.

 

The study retrospectively analyzed real-world data from 30,785 inpatients at Jesus Hospital, comparing 17 months of data before and after the adoption of VitalCare, using electronic medical records (EMR). The key evaluation metrics included the incidence of Code Blue events, the rate of long-term hospitalization, and the frequency of early clinical intervention.

 

Results showed that following the adoption of VitalCare, the occurrence of major events such as Code Blue decreased by 24.97%, while long-term hospitalization rates in general wards were also significantly reduced (P<0.05). In addition, early clinical intervention frequency in general wards markedly increased, and the algorithm’s predictive performance was found to outperform conventional scoring systems.

 

Code Blue is the emergency code indicating that a patient is experiencing cardiopulmonary arrest (CA) and requires immediate resuscitation due to rapid deterioration. Despite intensive clinical response, survival rates for Code Blue patients remain below 20%, making early detection and intervention before cardiac arrest a critical strategy for improving survival outcomes.

 

This study demonstrates that VitalCare enables healthcare professionals to receive early warnings, thereby preventing critical events in hospitals. It also shows how the solution can address existing challenges in healthcare, such as workforce shortages and complex workflows, while improving efficiency in clinical services.
