AITRICS named Finalist for the UK-KOR Tech Rocketship Awards
2019-11-19
AITRICS was selected as the finalist for the ‘UK-Korea Tech Rocketship Awards,’ a program in which the British government supports Korean startups to enter into the UK. It was held for the first time in Korea this year, following Australia and India. In particular, this competition was held on the subject of artificial intelligence and data, population aging, clean growth, and future mobility.
'UK-Korea Tech Rocketship Awards,' selected eight companies in four categories. AITRICS named as a final company in 'Tech for an Aging Society,' introducing its AI technology and VitalCare, a solution for predicting sepsis in hospitals.
The representative technique of AITRICS, 'Bayesian Deep Learning,' has the advantages of improving the accuracy of results, interpreting the decision-making process of deep learning models, and improving reliability through calculating uncertainty. Through these technologies, AITRICS has unraveled the 'Black box,' which is the most significant disadvantage of AI.
AITRICS developed 'Vital Care,' a sepsis prediction solution using the technology, and is currently verifying data in cooperation with Severance, Ilsan, and Seoul National University Hospital. This dramatically reduces the risk of sepsis in various hospital environments through real-time monitoring of the patient's EMR, enabling medical staff's preemptive response with an accurate prediction of patient conditions, so improving hospital resource efficiency and service quality.
Eight companies selected through this competition will be invited to the UK in the first half of 2020 to participate in a market research program. There will also be opportunities to establish individual meetings and business networks with local public-private supporting organizations and investors, and 1:1 mentoring with experts in each industry sector.
Global Business Manager of AITRICS Yejina Hong, who led the project, said “We are pleased to participate in the advancement of the Korean startup ecosystem and overseas expansion with the British government's support. It is expected through this opportunity, AITRICS will be able to quickly become a leader in the domestic and overseas markets by developing its technology and the utility of products. We will contribute to creating social value through AI technology, with an awareness of the aging and population problems and various problems that are widespread everywhere.”
