6, 2026] AITRICS, a medical
artificial intelligence(AI) company, announced on May 6 that it shared the
clinical value and real-world applications of its AI solution AITRICS-VC(VitalCare),
at a luncheon symposium held during the 46th KSCCM Annual Congress∙Acute and
Critical Care Conference 2026(KSCCM·ACCC 2026), which took place from April 30
to May 1 at BEXCO in Busan.
At
the congress, AITRICS operated an exhibition booth in addition to participating
in the luncheon symposium sessions, introducing the clinical utility and
application cases of VitalCare. During the luncheon symposium held on the first
day, Professor YeonJoo Lee of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care
Medicine at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital served as chair, and
Professor RyoungEun Ko of the Department of Critical Care Medicine at Samsung
Medical Center gave a presentation under the theme of ‘Strategic Sepsis
Management Using AI’.
Professor
RyoungEun Ko said, “Early recognition of sepsis and timely initiation of
necessary treatments, such as antibiotic administration, fluid therapy, and
vasopressor use, can have a significant impact on patient outcomes. However, in
actual clinical settings, it is often difficult to determine the appropriate
timing for intervention”. She added, “In this regard, VitalCare is meaningful
as a clinical partner that goes beyond alerting clinicians to risk signals and
supports their decision-making by suggesting the optimal timing for
intervention based on clinical guidelines”.
VitalCare
is a medical AI solution that analyzes electronic medical record(EMR) data to
predict the risk of sepsis, cardiac arrest, and death at an early stage.
Through multiple clinical studies, VitalCare has demonstrated superior sepsis
prediction performance compared to conventional assessment tools.
On
the second day, Professor Jaehun Kim of the Department of Trauma Surgery at
Pusan National University Hospital served as chair, and Professor Kihoon Kim of
Trauma Surgery and the Critical Care Medicine Center at Inje University
Haeundae Paik Hospital gave a presentation under the theme of ‘Clinical and
Operational Improvement Cases Through the Establishment of an AI-Based Rapid
Response Team.’ The presentation introduced the case of Haeundae Paik Hospital,
where VitalCare was designed and operated together from the stage of
establishing its rapid response team(RRT).
An
analysis of Haeundae Paik Hospital’s rapid response team operations showed that
VitalCare detected high-risk patients before the occurrence of acute critical
events, including death, ICU transfer, and cardiac arrest. It was also found to
efficiently identify high-risk patients with fewer alerts than conventional
early warning scores.
Professor
Jaehun Kim said, “This case shows that integrating AI into the process of
establishing a rapid response team can enhance the efficiency of a hospital’s
response system and lead to more structured responses”. He added, “AI can
enable structured responses based on early identification of risk signs and
clear response criteria, and in this respect, it has the potential to become a
key infrastructure for hospital safety systems going forward”.
Kwangjoon
Kim, CEO of AITRICS, said, “It was meaningful to share the real-world changes
that VitalCare is creating in clinical settings, from sepsis management to
rapid response team operations, at this congress”. He added, “VitalCare is
expanding its applicability in clinical settings as a medical AI solution that
supports clinicians’ decision-making and helps enable faster responses”. He
