To mark World Sepsis Day on September 13, launching a Sepsis Awareness Campaign
Emphasizing the Importance of Early Diagnosis and Prevention, as Sepsis Mortality Rates Range from 20% to 40%
AITRICS (CEO Kwang joon Kim), a company specializing in artificial intelligence (AI) technology announced on the 10th that it launched a 'No Sepsis, Know Sepsis' campaign for its employees to mark World Sepsis Day which is September 13th. The campaign aims to raise awareness about sepsis and the importance of early diagnosis.
The 'No Sepsis, Know Sepsis' campaign was organized to help employees accurately understand the risks associated with sepsis and to reinforce the significance of early diagnosis and prevention.
Sepsis is a severe infection that causes damage to bodily tissues and organs due to infection, affecting approximately 50 million patients worldwide each year, with a mortality rate of 20-40%. Early prediction and diagnosis are important because sepsis is difficult to diagnose because its initial symptoms are non-specific, and it can lead to severe physical and mental sequelae after infection, making early prediction and diagnosis critical.
AITRICS distributed educational materials on the definition of sepsis and the importance of early prediction. The company also conducted quizzes related to sepsis to test employees' knowledge of the disease.
Additionally, AITRICS invited Professor Lee, Yeon-joo from the Department of Pulmonary at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital to give a special lecture on sepsis for AITRICS employees. Professor Lee explained the pathophysiology of sepsis and shared her clinical experiences in treating the condition. Employees had the opportunity to increase their awareness of sepsis and deeply understand the importance of early detection and prevention.
Professor Lee stated, "If sepsis is not treated appropriately in its early stages, the mortality rate can increase to nearly 50% due to septic shock. Therefore, early diagnosis and prevention are crucial. I hope that AITRICS employees gain insights into the complexities of sepsis management in real medical settings and work towards improving it."
Kwang-joon Kim, CEO of AITRICS said, "Sepsis can be prevented through early diagnosis and treatment, but many people still lack awareness of its seriousness and the importance of prevention. I hope this campaign contributes to raising interest and awareness about sepsis. We will continue to help our employees understand the value of medical AI technology and provide services that enhance patient management and treatment."
