AITRICS partners with DAMC for Medical Artificial Intelligence Research and Commercialization

September 20, 2019

AITRICS has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Dong-A University Medical Center (DAMC) for Medical Artificial Intelligence Research and Commercialization.

DAMC is a representative hospital in Busan and Gyeongnam that has successfully implemented about ten state-designated health and medical projects and managed specialized technical centers including a robot surgery center, an organ transplant center, and a cancer center.

Through this partnership, AITRICS and DAMC will conduct various joint studies for medical artificial intelligence research and commercialization, including the development of VitalCare, AITRICS's solution for predicting emergencies in hospitals. They will first conduct cooperation research and development of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) versions through data verification of their products, VitalCare.

VitalCare is AITRICS's AI platform that greatly improves patient safety by timely detection and treatment of the risk factors of various environments in hospitals through real-time monitoring of patients' electronic medical records(EMR).

Dr. Hee-Bae Ahn, DAMC Director, stated that the introduction of artificial intelligence-based services in hospitals is "not an option but a necessity" to move toward digital healthcare. Dr. Ahn pointed out that DAMC has made "steady efforts" to serve the community so that DAMC becomes one of the great educational hospitals with up-to-date medical equipment and an electronic medical system. He believed that the collaboration with AITRICS, which has a deep understanding of artificial intelligence, will help DAMC be "the leading healthcare hospital in the future."

"I expect," said Jinkyu Yoo, CEO, and co-founder of AITRICS, "that AITRICS's unique artificial intelligence technology and DAMC's expertise in the medical field will maximize synergistic effects and develop services that can improve patients' prognosis." He continued that cooperation with DAMC will facilitate both "developing cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology and providing next-generation medical services." AITRICS will continue to gain expertise in the field of medical AI. Furthermore, the company will expand the application of technology to various fields, such as finance and entertainment, to settle the critical problems.
